What The Heck is Cassava?

22 October, 2021

Cassava is a vegetable root also known as Yuca! It is part of the root family and is cousin to the infamous potato and yam. It has a nutty flavor that pairs well with our very own Salted Egg ingredient!

This root can grow in very dry terrain, which makes it one of the sturdiest and most reliable veggie roots out there! On its own, cassava makes for a versatile ingredient that can be used in breads, tapioca, crackers, and even on it’s own as a tasty chip.

Cassava has been a staple ingredient in over 80 countries and enjoyed by millions of people around the world. We knew we wanted to introduce this versatile and delicious root into our line of delicious snacks at IRVINS, so we present to you, Cassava!

Why did we choose cassava?
We chose cassava because we wanted a chip that could pack a huge crunch paired with our delicious salted egg and aromatic curry leaves. Cassava also has several great health benefits: it’s a good source of vitamin C, thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin. The crunch level is more robust than our classic potato chip, so it is perfect for anyone that loves a satisfying bite!
